The Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELLOK) is organizing its 9th Annual Conference on February 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2025,' which will take place at the Wyndham Grand Athens Hotel.

The annual conference of ELLOK, as every year, is anchored around World Cancer Day on February 4th aiming to highlight important health policy issues and developments that affect the quality of oncology care and treatment provided.

The 9th Conference of the Hellenic Cancer Federation is part of the three-year (2025-2027) Campaign of the Union for International Cancer Control (U.I.C.C), titled "United by Unique".

Main Topics

In an era that could prove to be a turning point for the future of oncology, due to the Greek state's clear determination to address cancer as a major health issue in alignment with European institutions, the significant technological advancements that are opening new horizons in the treatment of the disease, and the ongoing consultation among all oncology stakeholders, the 9th' conference aims to highlight and provide updates on major issues related to oncology care in Greece and Europe.

The sessions will include presentations, roundtable discussions, and studies and research presentations from Greece and Europe, featuring distinguished speakers, scientists, politicians, and patient representatives. More specifically:.  .

  • The framework for the implementation of the announced National Cancer Plan and the corresponding creation of the National Cancer Registry.
  • The connection and collaboration between the legislative bodies of our country and their European counterparts to prioritize cancer as a major health issue.
  • The quality and safety of healthcare services in Greece and Europe.
  • The new national screening programs as a pivotal strategic choice for the country in addressing cancer.
  • The implementation plan of the National Node "Mission for Cancer"
  • The importance of Primary Healthcare as the starting point of health systems.
  • Ways to address the multifaceted inequalities in oncology care and the discontinuity of cancer care in pediatric oncology.
  • The role of patients' participation in decision making
  • The implementation of digital transformation and its benefits for patients and healthcare providers.
  • The need to adopt a new model for healthcare economics management.
  • Clinical trials that can and should serve as the main vehicle for entering the new era of cancer treatment.
  • The multidimensional benefits of creating a Health Technology Assessment (HTA) organization.
  • The adoption of a new framework for the approval and reimbursement of biomarkers.
  • The latest innovative developments in medical devices and their role in oncology care.
  • The presentation of the All.Can International study "Action Guide For Efficient Cancer Care" for evaluating the effectiveness of the services provided throughout the patient's journey.
  • The presentation of the report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for Greece.
  • The presentation of the results of the report on the experience of cancer patients with their interactions with the Greek healthcare system.

Our goal is the active participation and interaction of the attendees and the audience in order to highlight the most important issues in cancer treatment, as well as to present relevant proposals and solutions from political entities, the academic and scientific fields, healthcare professionals, the industry, and patient organizations.

The Conference, which after eight years of successful execution has now established itself as the leading annual event of ELLOK and a milestone for the oncology community in our country, aims to be a reference point for fostering dialogue among all stakeholders in cancer care, contributing to its improvement and strengthening the role of patients in decisions concerning their treatment and quality of life.

The PAPAPOSTOLOU Healthcare Technologies
