1st Greek Forum on Cancer: Policy, Research & Funding Strategies | 1 – 2 Ιουλίου

As Greece moves towards the implementation of a National Cancer Plan, the adoption of corresponding policies and funding strategies is necessary for the effective management of cancer, the promotion and strengthening of cancer research, and the improvement of healthcare services. At the same time, since 2021, the European Commission, by developing “The European Cancer Plan” and “EU Mission on Cancer” program, has focused on the need to better understand cancer and provide support for its proper management by member states.

Taking these into consideration, the 2-day ELLOK Forum on 1st and 2nd of July aims to highlight current challenges and opportunities by inviting the representatives of the state, public health authorities, and research institutes from Greece and Europe, health economics experts, academic and scientific institutions, healthcare professionals, representatives from the healthcare industry and digital technologies, and patient organizations to engage in a fruitful conversation.

Some of the issues that we will address during the Forum include:

-To what extent has Greece utilized European programs for cancer research?

-What are the benefits of increased participation of stakeholders in European research programs?

-How can our country address potential gaps?

-How can the participation of our country be expanded?

-How can investment in innovation be funded and what is the added value for the state and citizens?

-What are the trends, and what is the expected focus based on the planning of European programs for the coming years?

-What is the importance of patient representatives and civil society in the design and development of the new European ecosystem for effective cancer care?

Areas of focus will include:

-the integration of new digital technologies and artificial intelligence

-achieving interoperability of systems in cancer research and care

-data management and integration with the upcoming European Health Data Space

-development of original structures for cancer care and their inclusion in the European network of Comprehensive Cancer Centers

-connection of research with healthcare services

-the support for the sustainability of projects carried out with the support of European funding instruments.

– Κατά πόσο έχουν αξιοποιηθεί από τη χώρα μας τα ευρωπαϊκά προγράμματα για την έρευνα στον καρκίνο;
– Ποια είναι τα οφέλη που θα προκύψουν από τη μεγαλύτερη συμμετοχή φορέων στα ευρωπαϊκά ερευνητικά προγράμματα;
– Με ποιο τρόπο μπορεί η χώρα μας να καλύψει τα πιθανά κενά που υπάρχουν;
– Τι έχουν εφαρμόσει οι άλλες χώρες για να αξιοποιήσουν τις ευρωπαϊκές πρωτοβουλίες για την εφαρμογή του Ευρωπαϊκού Σχεδίου Καταπολέμησης του Καρκίνου και του προγράμματος «Αποστολή Καρκίνος», αυξήσουν τη συμμετοχή και την απορρόφηση κονδυλίων από τα συγκεκριμένα προγράμματα;
– Πως μπορεί να διευρυνθεί η συμμετοχή της χώρας μας;
– Με ποιο τρόπο μπορεί να χρηματοδοτηθεί η επένδυση στην καινοτομία και ποια η υπεραξία που παράγεται για την πολιτεία και τους πολίτες;
– Πως μπορεί η πολιτεία να συνδράμει στις προσπάθειες και το συντονισμό για την επίτευξη μίας θετικότερης προοπτικής για τη χώρα μας;
– Ποιες είναι οι τάσεις και που προβλέπεται ότι θα υπάρξει εστίαση, με βάση τον προγραμματισμό των ευρωπαϊκών προγραμμάτων για τα επόμενα χρόνια;
– Ποια η σημασία της δευτερογενούς χρήσης των δεδομένων στην υγεία;
– Γιατί είναι απαραίτητη η συμμετοχή των εκπροσώπων των ασθενών και της κοινωνίας των πολιτών στο σχεδιασμό και την ανάπτυξη του νέου ευρωπαϊκού οικοσυστήματος για την αποτελεσματική φροντίδα του καρκίνου;
