
Joint Action on Networks of Expertise (JANE)
JANE is a joint initiative aimed at creating 6 new Centers of Excellence in the field of cancer in the following areas:
- personalized primary prevention,
- survival,
- palliative care,
- omic technologies,
- high-tech medical resources,
- one or more complex and poor prognosis cancers.
The common action aims to:
- to prepare all the necessary steps for the establishment of the new Expert Networks
- to critically evaluate the existing models of current and future EU networking with the aim of optimizing the operation of the new Expert Networks.
The project consists of 10 Work Packages, which focus on project management and evaluation, dissemination of results, and the design of each of the six Expert Networks. Additionally, there are 5 Support Working Groups that will operate transversely across all the Work Packages, directly focusing on the establishment of the Networks. The topics of the Support Working Groups will be:
- sustainability,
- the networking of the EU with the Member States,
- the integration of information technology infrastructures, including the use of artificial intelligence tool
- the integration between healthcare and research,
- ERN model,
- participation of patients.
The ambition of this Joint Action is to establish new Networks of Expertise capable of operating effectively, by building on past and ongoing EU networking experiences and identifying solutions rooted in the European oncology community.
Our role
ELLOK actively participates in Support Working Group 5, focusing on the development of strategies to enhance patient empowerment and engagement through networking within European cancer-related health initiatives. Additionally, ELLOK plays a supportive role in the Work Packages related to the design of the Networks of Expertise, ensuring that the needs and voices of patients are effectively represented.
